Understanding the Craft
Bespoke tailoring is an art built on centuries of technique. Here, we share the knowledge behind what makes a truly exceptional garment.
The Foundation of Every Garment
The cloth you choose determines how a suit moves, drapes, and ages. We source from the finest mills — primarily from England and Italy — selecting fabrics for their hand, weight, and longevity.
Super wools and luxury fabrics. Cashmere blends. Linens and cottons for warmer climates. Each bolt is inspected before it enters our workshop.
We guide you through selection with context: how will this fabric perform in your climate, your lifestyle, your wardrobe? The right fabric is the one that works for you.
Full Canvas, Full Control
Full canvas construction is the gold standard. The canvas — a layer of horsehair and linen — is hand-basted to the wool, giving the jacket structure while allowing it to mould to your body over time..
Unlike fused (glued) construction, a canvassed jacket breathes, drapes naturally, and improves with wear. It's the difference between a garment that sits on you and one that becomes part of you.
Every Playmaker jacket is either half or full canvas, there are no shortcuts. The choice is yours.
The Details That Define
Hand-picked stitching along the lapel edge. Functional surgeon's cuffs. Hand-sewn buttonholes. Milanese buttonholes for the flower loop. These are not decorations — they are signatures of true bespoke work.
Every finishing decision is made with purpose. We use traditional hand techniques not for nostalgia, but because they produce a superior result that machines cannot replicate.
